With various airflows from human movement, air conditioning, etc., these pollutants will be dispersed around, mostly attached to the wall and inhaled by the people. This range hood is thoroughly designed based on aerodynamics and includes an elongate air blow device installed along the front edge of the counter top and an elongate suction device located at a distance above the counter top, thereby forming an air curtain such that pollutants are effectively contained and removed by the elongate suction device. The performance and energy consumption of the range hood have been rigorously tested and confirmed. The capture efficiency is more than 99% which is a drastic improvement when compared with the conventional range hoods (about 60~70%). The energy consumption is only about 50% of the conventional ones. In addition, this range hood could be flexibly adapted to fit various household and restaurant kitchen requirements. The elongate suction device could be dynamically raised or lowered, and the range hood could be extended laterally to cover a very large counter top.
